If you are a gamer then you have definitely come across the debate of whether 144Hz is better than 60Hz monitors. People are still mostly divided over the answer to this debate. However it seems companies are not waiting around for people to decide. A website is claiming to have a prototype 480Hz LCD monitor (insert drool/wtf face).
However not all is at it seems. It has been said that the monitor is a 4K 120Hz monitor that is capable of reaching much higher refresh rates at lower resolutions. Our estimate is that it would probably reach 480 Hz at a resolution of 1080p.
There is already news of companies like Acer and Asus releasing 4k 144Hz releasing monitors in the coming future, so there could be a lot of developments of monitors running high refresh rates at lower resolutions. But as of now we are waiting for a proper test of the monitor so we can confirm all these speculations.
Of course if and when the monitors do come out it will be quite a challenge to run a game at 480 FPS even at 1080p. Take note Nvidia and AMD.
How much would you pay for a 480Hz monitor?
