As surprising as it may seem, Ubisoft has announced a new MMO FPS games that’s due to be released by next week!
ATOMEGA – Ubisoft’s new game Announcement
It is the newest and most surprising release of the season which is being developed by the same studio that brought us Grow Home and Grow Up. ATOMEGA is a new style of FPS with a cuboid style and set at the end of time which sounds like a really interesting premise for an FPS game. If you’re looking for a fast paced sci-fi shooter with a cybernetic feel then you definitely should check out ATOMEGA.
ATOMEGA will be launching next week alongside Gunpoint dev Tom Francis’ new title Heat Signature which was also announced last night to be released during next week. We don’t know the reason for these unheard of games coming out in the next week but from what we can tell both look unique and interesting.
What’s ATOMEGA About?
ATOMEGA online multiplayer First Person Shooter, in which players will take the form of ‘Exoforms’, purple colored entities that need to acquire mass in order to grow bigger. One look at the game and you can probably tell that this is a take on an alternate reality were tetrominoes went rogue and started fighting each other for dominance rather than falling in place.
But how does the end of time story element fit into all this? Turns out that Exoforms are post biological creatures that are neither human or animal or machine but rather composed of matter and energy. You will play as one of these Exoforms in an arena among 8 players on the brink of destructing for a battle of dominance.
Another Generic MMO FPS…?
Ubisoft has stated that they’re going with a more creative direction with ATOMEGA and considering it’s being developed by the same people behind Grow Home and Grow Up the chances of it being unique in its own way is rather high. It was “made with a creatively experimental mind-set,” the statement read, and will seek “to create unusual concepts which will surprise and delight players.”
At this point, we know little to nothing but what the actual gameplay is going to be or whether the game will have a campaign. It’s anyone’s guess why Ubisoft skipped the potential to get fans excited during E3 and Gamescom this year. What we do know about the game is that 8players will take part in 10 minute long battles while using ability boosts, evolve into and sustain the coveted OMEGA forms, rain chaos across a massive playing field and the team with the most score will win.
“It is a relentlessly competitive experience, an easy to pick-up but hard to master game, with a light-hearted tone echoing the personality of its small development team,” the statement said.
ATOMEGA will be releasing exclusively on Steam/PC on September 19 with no information about a console release being available.
