Divinity: Original Sin was a huge success for the Larian Studios team and it was easy to imagine that we would get a sequel. Named Divinity: Original Sin 2, the sequel is bringing in more of the same gameplay, with some really interesting improvements and a new story that really stands out as well.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 Gameplay
Right off the bat, you will note that the combat is a lot more tactical this time around. Using your characters wisely during combat can pay off, and the unique combat system allows you to easily strategize on the spot. You have things like exploiting the terrain, using destructible items and so on. All of these do add up to bringing in a lot of fun mechanics, and in the end the game has the ability to benefit from that.
The user interface was improved too, but the reality is that it can take a bit of getting used to. That being said, it’s a masterfully designed interface and considering the scope of the game and the fact that you will see it for dozens of hours, it really has a good design.
The soundscape and the music as a whole are also very well done. You will end up spending lots of hours just exploring the regions, enjoying new locations and having fun. It’s a nice experience to have and one that will definitely bring in front some epic moments.
You also have a lot of variety in regards to locations. From dungeons to large cities and forests, you definitely get to explore a whole lot of cool new locations and places. The game does a very good job at that, and it also builds a world full of characters that are actually meaningful to the story and the way you play.
Graphically, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is indeed superior. It retains the same style, which is very good. But at the same time, it includes more particle effects, shaders and the lighting is also much better this time around. All of these add up in order to create a much better and certainly more cohesive story as a whole. It’s delivering a stellar, unique game experience that you will want to repeat more and more often.
AI is rather complex here. It knows when and how to attack, and you will note that from the start. It can be very difficult to eliminate the enemies, but the game manages to include a new skill system that’s revamped and very easy to adapt to.
When it comes to multiplayer, you will be quite impressed with the achievements. The PVP mode is nice, it features quite a lot of interesting mechanics and strategies you can use. At the same time, it’s easy to drop from singleplayer and move there!
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is also a best seller on Steam, at the time of this writing it’s actually selling better than Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, which has been the bestseller on Steam since that game released. So yes, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is not only a very good game, but it also sells very well, and you are bound to enjoy the value, quality and attention to detail that you can find in here. You will also get to play multiplayer with tons of people too, which is really nice! You can find it on Steam here.
